ABOUT DR. RODGERS

Timothy Leigh Rodgers, M.D.

Dr. Timothy Leigh Rodgers, a specialist in Internal Medicine, has been caring for patients in Santa Barbara since 1977. Previously, he was in private practice in San Francisco for two years, where he also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco.

Dr. Rodgers grew up in the city of San Francisco where he became an Eagle Scout.  He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biomedical Sciences. At Berkeley he was a Varsity Letterman and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.  He earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.  Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine were served at the University of Virginia Hospital, New York Hospital (Cornell), Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital, and the Stanford University Hospital.

He currently teaches residents at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. He is a long time member of Cottage Hospital’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and the Diabetes Education Committee.  He also serves on the Physician Computerized Order Entry Committee. His professional interests include preventive medicine, hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis.  He serves on community committees for women’s health issues and for diabetes prevention.

Dr. Rodgers is a Board Certified Internist and has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the professional organization for Internal Medicine Specialists.

Dr. Rodgers and his wife, Pamela, have been married since 1971. They have two grown children who both live and work in San Francisco. Kit is an engineer, and Kerry is an artist. With the children gone the Rodgers’ attention is now directed toward their menagerie of dogs, cats, and canaries. When not caring for patients, Dr. Rodgers enjoys restoring classic automobiles, astronomy, hiking, and studying medical history. He belongs to the SB Cinema Society, a book club, and a Civil War study group. On a sunny Sunday afternoon he may be seen with his wife cruising about the South Coast on their vintage motorcycle.
